Picturing Progress: The CFI Inclusion Visualizer

Background: In 2015, the Center for Financial Inclusion at Accion (CFI) introduced the Financial Inclusion 2020 project, which intends to mobilize stakeholders around the globe to achieve full financial inclusion, using the year 2020 as a focal point for action.

Challenge:  With a target selected, CFI needed to understand the current state of financial inclusion, identify opportunity areas, and track progress. Ultimately, the organization needed to answer two questions: Are we going to get to financial inclusion by 2020? If so, what is it going to take to get there?

Solution: Designed by CFI and powered by MIX, the FI2020 Inclusion Visualizer was built as a way for stakeholders to manipulate, visualize and download data related to financial inclusion. The Inclusion Visualizer, published on the public CFI website, allowed users to see progress and trends in financial inclusion, identify excluded populations and see the relationship between financial inclusion and larger development goals
